Fire & Ice on The Sawtooths ©

The day turns from dawn to sunrise on the Northern Sawtooths on the first morning after a snowstorm departs not before depositing 72″ of snow. The town and residents of Stanley experience a few days of isolation as Banner Summit, Galena Summit, and Highway 75 are blocked or closed due to avalanche danger. The artist is one of the individuals effectively subject to a (Natural) Travel Ban.
